C L GUPTA SCHOOL OF OPTOMETRY has started FOUR-YEAR BACHELOR OF OPTOMETRY program in affiliation with M.J.P.Rohilkhand University and U.P.State Medical faculty
The World Council of Optometry defines the Optometry as:
“Optometry is a healthcare profession that is autonomous, educated, and regulated (licensed/registered), and optometrists are the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, detection/diagnosis and management of disease in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system”.

Scope and Career Options
As eye care in India progresses - both in widening its reach across the nation and in raising its standards to the highest levels - and new and more sophisticated products are available in the market, there is an increasing demand for competent optometrists who can provide the best eye care for people with visual disabilities.
To fulfill this need, C L Gupta Eye Institute has established C L Gupta School of Optometry in 2012 which offers Diploma in Optometry program, from 2016 we have started offering BACHELOR IN OPTOMETRY (B.Optom) program in affiliation with M.J.P.Rohilkhand University and U.P.State Medical faculty.

Eligibility

  • Shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year of admission.
  • Must have passed 10+2 in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Biology and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Math & English be 40% & 45%  Admission Procedure:
    Mode of admission: Written test and personal interview
  • Admission starts from April 2019.

FELLOWSHIP in OPTOMETRY
The C L Gupta Eye Institute offers a one-year Optometry fellowship to candidates with a B.Sc.Optometry and a two-year fellowship to candidates with a Diploma in Optometry. During the course of the fellowship, fellows are posted at the comprehensive and sub-specialty departments.
Eligibility: Completed either Bachelor in Optometry
Duration: 13 months
Fee: Stipend
Admission: Applications have to be sent to Education Department of CLGEI, after the notification appears on institute website. Admission exams and interviews take place in June and The course begins on the first Monday of the month of July.

Important Dates:

  • Program Duration: 13 months for Graduate Optometrist & 24 months for Diploma holder Optometrist
  • Entrance Test Date: 15th June, 2019

INTERNSHIP in OPTOMETRY
The C L Gupta School of Optometry at CLGEI offers a limited number of internship seats to students who have completed the first three years of their under graduate Optometry course from other colleges.
Eligibility: Completed first three years of Bachelor in Optometry
Duration: 12 months 15 Days.
Fee:Rs.40000/- INR (For Indian Candidates) .
Admission: Applications have to be sent to Education Department of CLGEI, after the notification appears on institute website.

The important dates for optometry Internship training program are as follows:

Admission Session: Two sessions for admission. First session admission batch internship will start from 15th of June, 2019 and 2nd session* admission batch internship will be start from 1st September, 2019.
Mention your choice of session while filling Internship admission application form.
1st Session Admission details:

  • Program Duration: 12 months 15 days.
  • Entrance Test Date: 07th May, 2019.
  • Last date for Application Form: 31st April, 2019.
  • Program Commencing Date: 15th June, 2019.

2nd Session Admission details: (*Admission in second session only if seats available).

  • Entrance Test Date: 17th August, 2019.

    Presently CLGEI offers short term Optometry fellowship in following departments.

    • PEDIATRIC OPTOMETRY
    • ANTERIOR SEGMENT AND CONTACT LENS
    • POSTERIOR SEGMENT DIAGNOSTICS

    Eligibility: Completed either Bachelor in Optometry/ Diploma in Optometry
    Duration: 03 months.
    Fee:  40,000 INR.
    Admission: Interested candidates can send applications to Education Department of CLGEI.  These programs are available on quarterly basis throughout of year.

    LOW VISION AIDS
    Eligibility: Completed either Bachelor in Optometry/ Diploma in Optometry
    Duration: 01 months.
    Fee:  15,000 INR/ Sponsored
    Admission: Interested candidates can send applications to Education Department of CLGEI.
    OPTICAL DISPENSING
    Eligibility: Completed 10+2 with Science/Commerce/Arts
    Duration: 03 months.
    Fee:  40,000 INR or Sponsored , Rs. 50000 for SAARC Countries , Rs. 80000 for International Candidates
    Admission: Interested candidates can send applications to Education Department of CLGEI.  Admission given on quarterly basis throughout year.
