Optometry is a unique, independent, primary eye care profession. World health of Organization (WHO) defines Optometry as: -

"Optometry is a healthcare profession that is autonomous, educated, and regulated (licensed/registered), and optometrists are the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, detection/diagnosis and management of disease in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system".

C.L Gupta Eye Institute started C.L Gupta School of Optometry in the year 2012 for the purpose of educating and training optometrists to achieve the highest level of proficiency and professionalism in the practice of Optometry, in affiliation with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow Approved by U.P. State Medical Faculty, Lucknow. The Optometry school started with Diploma in Optometry in 2012, later with Bachelor in Optometry from 2017, and over the years has trained many competent optometrists who created a difference in the quality of life of individuals, both physically and mentally by providing the best eye care. The school gives its students a strong academic foundation and excellent clinical training.

Course Offered:-

Bachelor of Optometry: -C.L Gupta School of Optometry which is affiliated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow offers four-year Optometry graduation course. Students undergo extensive clinical program as well as a hands-on practical session and engage in patient care. During the internship period, they will be posted all specialties of CL Gupta Eye Institute and complete the graduation program. Apart from these the students also take part actively in research activities, community eye screening program, conferences, and workshops.

Eligibility

• Shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year of admission.

• Must have passed 10+2 in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English be 40% & 45%

Admission Procedure : Common Paramedical Entrance Test (CPET) by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU) Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (India). Written test and Personal interview

Admission Session: Starts from July 2023.

Campus

The lush green campus of C.L Gupta School of Optometry is located in famous Brass City Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, spreading across a vast area of 8 acres of land. The campus is 8.5 km from Moradabad Railway Station and situated on the banks of Ram Ganga River. The campus consists of two main buildings- block A and block B. Block A is hospital-based which consists of Outpatient and Inpatient department, Operation Theatre, Library, Labs and Auditorium and Block B consists of Optometry Classrooms, Optometry administrative office, hostel and canteen situated across various floors of the buildings. There are numerous trees, various flower gardens, lawns and playgrounds surrounding the buildings creating a beautiful ambience for people who seek relaxation and would like to calm their mind. The Library is well equipped with a vast collection of Optometry and Ophthalmology books, journals, computers and Wi-fi connection and open on all working days(Monday to Saturday) from 9.00 AM to 7.00 PM. All the optometry classrooms consist of projectors along with whiteboards and internet facility for facilitating professors to amalgamate traditional learning with conventional learning to make students understand better.
