The objective of this program is to train ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and management of corneal diseases and cataract through
The following are the areas and techniques where the training is imparted
Slit Lamp, Keratometry, Biomicrocsopy, Pachymetry, Specular Microscopy, A- B Scan, Tear Film function tests.
Microbiology: Smear preparation, culture methodology and interpretation of various corneal infections including bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic.
Pathology: Preparation and interpretation of specimens from various corneal pathologies including scars, edema, dystrophies, infections and degenerations
Immunology: Understanding various techniques, immunohistocytochemistry, serology, etc.
As a part of fellowship fellows are also taught about the management of following.
Nd: YAG capsulotomy
Nd: YAG membranotomy
Excimer laser PTK
Tissue retrieval
Tissue storage
Tissue evaluation
All the long term fellows will be paid a stipend of INR 40,000/- per months.
